Cameco

Cameco, founded in 1965 in Thibodaux, Louisiana, was a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty tractors and equipment, particularly renowned for its innovations in sugarcane farming machinery.

Known for their robust designs and high horsepower, ranging from 106 hp to 600 hp, Cameco tractors were built to handle demanding agricultural and industrial tasks. Their specialized high-clearance designs made them ideal for sugarcane cultivation, including planting, maintenance, and harvesting, while also being versatile enough for general farming and heavy construction operations like land clearing.

The tractors were celebrated for their durability, reliability, and ability to perform in challenging environments. In 1998, John Deere acquired Cameco, integrating its advanced technology into their equipment lineup. Although the Cameco brand was retired in 2006, its legacy lives on through John Deere’s modern machinery, particularly in the sugarcane sector, where Cameco’s innovations continue to influence farming efficiency worldwide.
